Roger Wooten Memorial Park
Center Ridge, Arkansas

When the Wooten Brothers started playing bluegrass, many practice sessions took place in their front yard in Center Ridge, Arkansas. Occasionally, neighbors and passers by would stop to hear the brothers playing. So many stopped by that Grandpa, Roy Wooten, decided to have a “musical”, as he calls it. Grandpa invited several local musicians and spread the word in the surrounding area. Before everyone left for the evening, Grandpa invited everyone back next year to do it again.

All this took place in 1963 and an annual show was held in the Wooten’s front yard on the first weekend in August for the next 11 years. The crowds grew so large that a new location was soon needed. In 1975, the first show was held at the park where it is still held today.
